Inaugural Seminar on Sustainable Development Goals

(March 06, 2024) Centre of Research and Innovation in Maritime Affairs (CRIMA) organized an inaugural seminar on Sustainable Development Goals at the Al-Farabi Auditorium, Minhaj University Lahore. The seminar's objective was to raise awareness about the SDGs and engage students in promoting sustainable development initiatives. Dr Muhammad Ishfaq, Director CRIMA, provided a comprehensive overview of the SDGs, highlighting the significance of students’ engagement in SDGs for a meaningful change and progress towards a more sustainable future. During the seminar, the student-ambassadors showcased their commitment to the SDGs by presenting overview of their assigned goals. They focused on the key objectives, challenges, and opportunities for action.

The interconnectedness of the SDGs was also discussed to prepare future activities in the light of existing challenges, The presentations reflected Minhaj University Lahore's commitment to engaging youth in sustainable development efforts. In his closing remarks, Prof Dr Sajid Mehmood Shahzad, the Vice Chancellor MUL accentuated that MUL plays a pivotal role in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through various initiatives such as research, education, community engagement, and campus sustainability practices. Stressing the significance of collective action, innovation, and collaboration across sectors to achieve the SDGs, he reiterated that the SDGs represent a shared global vision for a more prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable future for all.
