Achieving membership of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI)

(January 26, 2024) The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Sajid Mehmood Shahzad congratulated all the Deans and Heads of Minhaj University Lahore (MUL) on achieving membership of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI). He was addressing the monthly meeting held with the Deans on 26-1-2024.

He briefed them about the initiatives taken and the progress made by the university to achieve Sustainable Development Goals as outlined by UNO in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. MUL has appointed Dr. Yasir Khan, Head of the School of Political Science, to serve as a focal person. Additionally, 17 students from undergraduate programs have been nominated as ambassadors of the 17 SDGs. Each student represents one SDG and will work according to his/her designated goal. Besides, a bulletin billboard showcasing the SDGs is prominently placed near the MUL Media Wall.

He further apprised that the university has already informed the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Islamabad about the nomination of focal person and students. Also, the university has planned to organize large-scale events in collaboration with the SDGs Section, Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives.
Furthermore, he emphasized that all faculty members, especially the Deans, must take concrete actions to promote SDGs by integrating them into research, curriculum, and both curricular and co-curricular activities across various departments and research centers, which span over 150 academic programs at MUL. Additionally, they were directed to organize seminars, webinars, and workshops to raise awareness about the significance of SDGs, fostering responsible global citizenship among faculty and students.
